Hundreds of pieces of chalk suspended on shimmering nylon cords formed the central core of chalk talk.  Tiered layers of weighted string defined a fluid boundary of passage and an interactive writing system surrounded by black walls.

Viewers quickly understood that they could use the stretchy chalk lines and blackboard surfaces to join an on-going conversation. Nothing was erased, rather like graffiti, walls filled with overlapping comments, responses, drawings, marks and gestures. Chalk lines tangled and were untangled/ tended by participants as they used the interactive space.
